You can work through the comics systematically, from the first episode to the last one, or in any other order. Each episode focuses on a particular topic (for example, Describing People, Greetings, Polite Requests, etc.) and presents corresponding language items (for example, "Who are you? Good morning! Can I have two bananas? etc.) through pictures and sounds. Also, each episode has the same format, and comes with both online and printable resources.
They are short, easy to read, and funny - each one presents a language concept in a humorous context. You can download and print the pdf version for each episode.
The story is told through words and pictures. You can use these pictures to practise English by doing simple exercises. For example, ask kids to describe the picture, make sentences that go with it, ask questions about the picture, give the picture a title, and so on.
Each episode is accompanied by audio files, so you can hear Wordies and their friends talking. To hear the sounds, click on the picture, text or sound icon. The audio files are in the mp3 format which works in the newest versions of all major browsers.
You can browse the resources using this picture guide. Each episode is presented in its own box and contains a short summary as well as a link to the relevant content page. You can also search by episode topic or number. If you are looking for printables, check out the reader sheets section.
