Flash-based games updated to HTML5
Most online games on this site were built with Flash. Unfortunately, the Flash technology is currently out of date. Many browsers have stopped loading or playing Flash content. Near the end of 2020, the Flash games will stop working completely. That is the reason why we have started to replace all the Flash content with HTML5.
HTML5 is a newer technology that is faster, more efficient and more secure for you and your devices. Also, it is enabled in your browser automatically without the need for a plug-in. HTML5 online games should work long into the future.
What does this mean for you?
We tried to keep the new games as similar to the previous ones as possible (vocabulary, types of activities). But there are some important changes and differences:
- Each game has redesigned, and now comes with a completely new look and new features.
- Each game is really easy (for beginner or young kids), fun and hopefully a great way to learn or review vocabulary words.
- Each game introduces 12 vocabulary words now (10 words in the previous version).
- Playing the games (spelling activities, picture tests, vocabulary quizzes), kids can see the picture of the word and hear the pronunciation.
Some older browsers do not fully support HTML5, so you will have to make sure that your browser is HTML5 compatible. We recommend using Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Opera.
Although Flash will be obsolete by the end of 2020, we will do our best to keep the Flash games going as long as we can. Therefore, the previous version is still available.
