I'm a Little Teapot

music, lyrics, song facts, printables for kids learning English

I'm a little teapot
Short and stout
Here is my handle
Here is my spout
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
Tip me over and pour me out

I'm a Little Teapot is an American song first published in 1939. Originally, it was written for the youngest students at Kelley’s dance school. The song quickly became popular in many countires.

Popular as a preschool song for circle time, I'm a Little Teapot is one of the favourite nursery rhymes of all time. And kids' tea party is never complete without this song!

The song may be accompanied with actions: extending one arm in a curve like the spout, placing the other arm akimbo like the handle, and bending sideways to mimic pouring.

This simple tune and short rhyming verse lends itself to be easily adapted for alternative verses. For example, I'm a little snowman, short and fat or I'm a little penguin, black and white.
