Language aim: English vocabulary for places in a town.
preparation
Print out a game board and cards. If you want, you can stick the printout onto the heavy paper. Laminate for future use.
Cut out the individual cards, fold them and glue. Learn more how to prepare our cards (pdf). They are double-sided and self-checking, with the task on one side, and the answer on the reverse.
Before playing the game revise or pre-teach the names of all the items on the playing cards.
Our printables are in pdf format. To download them, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.
how to play
This is a board game with cards for 2-4 players (or teams). In the game, the questions have three different levels of difficulty and are coded with stars (easy - one star, medium - two stars, hard - three stars).
Shuffle question cards and put in a pile face up (answer side down).
Take a turn by flipping a coin (heads = move 1 space; tails = move 2 spaces).
When you land on a square with the flower, you take a card from the top of the pile. Read the question, then answer. Each correct answer gains points. Give yourself one point for each easy question you get right, two points for each medium question you get right, and three points for each hard question you get right.
