Language aim: learning English greetings plus clothing vocabulary.
preparation
Print out character and game (question) cards. If you want, you can stick the printout onto the heavy paper. Laminate for future use.
Cut out the individual cards, fold them and glue. Learn more how to prepare our cards (pdf). They are double-sided and self-checking, with the task on one side, and the answer on the reverse.
Before playing the game, select the following cards from the character card set: Banano, Lemonia, Bam-Bam, Honey, Peter, Ruby, Soto, Taffy. Then place them randomly face up in front of the players.
Our printables are in pdf format. To download them, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader.
how to play
This is a guessing card game played with two different sets of cards (character cards and question cards). Kids try to guess the character, then say the right greeting. This game can be played individually, in pairs or small teams.
Put game cards in a pile face up (answer side down).
To begin, take the first card from the pile and read the task aloud. For example, It's evening. Greet someone who is wearing a yellow cap.
If a member of either team thinks they can answer, they raise their hand and must give their answer immediately. For example, Good evening, Peter!
If it is correct, their team earns a point. If it is not correct, the other team has thirty seconds in which to try to answer. If they answer correctly, they earn a point.
Continue with the rest of the task cards. The team with the most points wins.
