With Auld Lang Syne and For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, Happy Birthday to You is among the three most popular songs in the English language.

Happy Birthday to You is often sung in English even by people that speak little or no English.

The original version, Good Morning to All, was written as a classroom greeting in 1893 by two teachers Mildred and Patty Hill, who were sisters.

It is traditional, among English-speakers, that at a birthday party, this song be sung to the birthday person by the other guests celebrating the birthday.
